Do not send money just to 'reserve' an apartment from someone whose identity and connection to the property you have not verified.
Also be wary of:
- unusually low prices;
- photos that do not match the property;
- apartments that are impossible to visit;
- urgent payment requests;
- contracts explained only verbally;
- additional fees not mentioned;
- unusually high electricity rates;
- owners refusing to provide necessary documents.
For a significant rental, ask to see documents confirming that the person is the owner or authorized to rent the property.
