For a permanent settlement: not necessarily.
The e-visa is very suitable for someone who wants to spend one, two, or three months in Vietnam before making a decision.
But if you really want to:
- work;
- study;
- join your spouse permanently;
- invest;
or obtain a more stable residency situation,
you generally need to switch to a status that corresponds to your situation.
